Gardening a Pain in the Neck? Here’s How to Make it Easier

You can absolutely love your back yard, and hate gardening. Gardening properly requires a lot of ongoing maintenance, after all, and sure, you might find some of it entertaining, fun, or at least rewarding. Chances are, however, you don’t find every chore fun, and that’s okay. That’s why we’ve invented tools to get the job done easier, faster, and with less strain.

After all, one of the biggest challenges when it comes to gardening is the physical strain. As we get older the impact on the physical strain only gets worse. Before you know it you’re at risk of throwing your back out, or hurting your knees, or pulling a tendon.

That’s why it’s time to stop gardening the hard way, and to start doing it the smart way, with these top tips and tools:

Automatic Watering System

Regular watering takes time, can easily be forgotten, and can end up destroying your garden if you do it too often or too little.

Now, you can absolutely avoid watering at all by choosing hardy plants that can take a drought or a floor in equal turns. If you are watering vegetables or more delicate plants, however, you’re going to need to invest in one of two solutions.

Automatic Sprinklers

If you need to water a wide area then automatic sprinklers are a great choice. You will need professionals to install this if you need to water a wide area. Once set up you’ll want to focus your watering on early morning, evening, or even at night. This is because you don’t want to water the lawn during high sun when the water tends to evaporate before it can fully soak into the soil and get used by your plants.

Drip Irrigation System

This system is technically always water. The water in question, however, is just a trickle, even as slow as a few drops at a time. This option is better fit for greenhouses with water-intensive plants like crops. You can even set the trickle so it turns on only at night, rather than all day.

Electronic or Motorized Tools

You’ll need motorized or electronic tools to speed up regular yard maintenance tasks. For example, if you have a very large yard that’s an acre or more in size you’ll want to invest in a zero turn lawn mower. These driving mowers mean you can quickly zip around the entirety of your plot, cutting the grass as you go, all with minimal effort.

Electronic hedge trimmers and similar tools can also speed up yard maintenance, and the speed and ease can even make the work very satisfying.

Get Gardening Support Furniture

You can get rolling stools, knee pillows, or similar furniture to help support your body while gardening. These tools don’t necessarily make work faster or easier, but they can help support your body while you work.

Choose a Relaxed Garden Style

Finally, know the easiest way to make gardening easier is to create a design that is laid back and relaxed. This means choosing plants that need minimal care throughout the year and aren’t invasive. Choosing a natural style, and native plants, and enjoying the more wild look means you need to do less overall. The rest of the tips, then, can make the rest of your yard work a breeze.
